In the last two blog posts, we talked about shifting your money mindset, building wealth, and raising your prices as a creative entrepreneur.

As bookkeepers, our instinct is usually to emphasize the bottom line, the spreadsheets, and the dollar bills — important stuff…100%!

However, in light of recent events, we decided to circle back to this topic. But, this time we want to dive deeper into what shifting your money mindset means and why it’s important…for women.

If you’re tapped into social media, you’ve probably seen the #metoo campaign. Women around the world are joining together to shine a light on sexual harassment and assault. If not, you can read more about it here.

The goal is to empower women to draw lines in the sand, find our voice, and unnormalize the way society treats us.

While sexual harassment is a way more serious offense — to be clear, our goal here is to add to this campaign, not detract or redirect — we realized the motivation behind it is similar to changing the mindset women have about money. Or how we set our prices, value our services, and market ourselves.

It’s no secret that historically men have been the “head of the household.” And while we’ve come a long way, recent studies show we still only make 82.1% of what men do.

You see, a healthy money mindset means you view money with a positive perspective. And realize it’s a tool; not an answer to all your problems or goals.

It’s about believing in your business. Knowing your services are incredibly valuable and worth every penny in your clients’ wallets.

It’s about letting go of the fear of asking for higher rates, shouting to the rooftops how AMAZING you are, and selling the heck out of your products on social media.

Back to our analytical side — to improve your money mindset, it’s important to expand your knowledge so you can develop more confidence in how you handle your finances. That way you won’t feel like you have to rely on someone else to solve your financial problems.
We have a list of our favorite financial books here.

This shift won’t happen overnight. And we can’t give you all the tools and information you need to do it. But, we can guide you in the right direction and stand by your side as you seize the money you deserve and find your voice when it comes to your business’s financial health.

So, above is some of our favorite financial books. But, below are a few of our favorite resources for learning how to shift your money mindset (both are important!).
