Earlier this year, I collaborated with Brittany Griggs, of Simply for Creatives, and Amy Northard the CPA for Creatives to offer The Creative Finance Academy. The Academy was a four month program that offered financial coaching in the areas of bookkeeping basics, taxes, and charging for your products and/or services. We provided a Facebook group, live studio lessons, weekly how-to videos, and accountability. It was such a great experience for us and our students so I wanted to share some of the behind-the-scenes!

First a comment from Madison, one of our participants: “I was terrified of overspending, so I just declined to ever look at my bank account unless I absolutely had to.” Can you relate to that feeling? Sometimes, our finances – both personal and business – can be completely overwhelming. It’s hard to keep track of everything, budget, and plan for the future. The Academy aimed to help relieve some of that pressure and give our students a greater understanding of their money.

Madison summed up her new perspective: “After completing the Creative Finance Academy, I feel like I have the knowledge and tools to maintain my day-to-day and monthly finances, and to move my business forward in the future including planning for and hiring new employees, raising my pricing, and prepping for vacation!” Vacation sounds pretty sweet right now. We hope you made it, girl!
